- Created shortut Option + Command + W to clone the currently-shown file. Then drag and drop the new window to the side of Netbeans to create a split window.
- Shift + Cmd + 6 brings up Tasks. Using the Tasks functionality could be a great way to help me keep track of issues, even by repository! Cool.

From: http://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/66422/change-all-the-txt-files-to-md-files-in-a-certain-folder
e.g. to replace a bunch of files in a folder which end in .pdb, and change the extension to .txt, run: find . -iname "*.pdb" -exec bash -c 'mv "$0" "${0%\.pdb}.txt"' {} \; Note: The website above says it does this "recursively" by which they may mean it acts on subfolders, too. I haven't tested this, so be careful! From http://goo.gl/cTnCpr:
In Finder, go to /Library/Frameworks/R.framework/Versions and just delete the version I don't want. rnum is some random number (for the filename "filestr")
filestr = paste('/',rnum,'.save') mainDir = '~/Desktop/' subDir = 'mixcop.EM.iter.DATA/' saveStr = gsub(" ","", paste(mainDir,subDir,filestr)) dir.create(file.path(mainDir, subDir), showWarnings = TRUE) savedat = as.data.frame(list(phi=dat[,1], psi=dat[,2])) save(savedat, file=saveStr) print(paste('Data saved to ',saveStr)) There's a really good-looking, short, clear post about this here:
http://mazamascience.com/WorkingWithData/?p=912 With the following in my document's preamble,
\usepackage[svgnames,dvipsnames,x11names]{xcolor} the following chart works when using colors. (Works for Mulberry, anyway). Also, here's a cool page showing how to define lots of colors. http://latexcolor.com/ The answer comes from this Stack Exchange.
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/3971844/access-variable-value-where-the-name-of-variable-is-stored-in-a-string-in-r The key is the get() command in R. You just build a string str of the variable name, then use get(str) and the variable's value is output. e.g; foo3 = 5 j = 3 get(gsub(" ","",paste('foo',j))) I'm following the instructions at this link. When I get the section Configure the StatET Eclipse plugin, Step 4, bullet 3, I'm using /Library/Frameworks/R.framework/Versions/3.0/Resources/ as the Location for R_HOME. I discovered that by typing .libPaths() into an Rsession, which actually returned a slightly different directory (above but with a /Library/ subfolder added). Eclipse showed an error at the bottom of the current setup dialog box and so I tinkered until I found a path that didn't give an error.
R: setting my directory for saving files Here's some code for setting the "saves" directory now that I've moved my saves to Box Sync instead of Dropbox.
The command savedir = gsub("7/ ","7/",paste('~/Box Sync/Home Folder gjl7/',gsub(" ","",paste('Sync/Duke/research/saves/')))) will give the correct path to the saves directory itself. Then just create a filename e.g. thisfile = gsub(" ","",paste('20140625-em.res.bvm.J0',j,'.reps50.list')) and the final save file path(or load file path, in this example) is loadstr = gsub("saves/ ", "saves/", paste(savedir, thisfile)) See here: http://web.stanford.edu/~dgleich/notebook/2009/05/appendix_slides_in_beamer_cont_1.html
Several interesting posts on this topic: - Link 1. - Link 2. Interesting comments here. - Link 3. Perspectives to think about. "Use regression when you aren't sure whether the independent categorical variables have any effect at all. Use ANOVA when you want to see whether particular categories have different effects." - Link 4. Decent slide set with good conceptual tidbits. "The logic of the ANOVA test is the same as the logic for the test of two population means." Also see below for types of tests done in different scenarios. For Greek letters, put \boldsymbol in front of the Greek letter and you'll get the bold vector notation. e.g. \boldsymbol\alpha. For non-Greek stuff, see below. I got the solution here. First put the following in your preamble (text copyable below the colored stuff): % following block from http://www.tapdancinggoats.com/bold-vectors-in-latex.htm \let\oldhat\hat \let\oldvec\vec % I made this one up so I can still use arrow vectors when I want. \renewcommand{\vec}[1]{\mathbf{#1}} \renewcommand{\hat}[1]{\oldhat{\mathbf{#1}}} Then the following main LaTeX code ... ... produces this result:
I got this from http://goo.gl/CZ4WPZ. Use the enumitem package, and pass the [noitemsep] option. Below is a code sample. This trick came from http://goo.gl/3CMU90
Check out the suggestions at this link.
I like #3: Use the shrink option for the frame, e.g. \begin{frame}[shrink=20]{Title} ... See Section 3.5.7 starting page 12 of this document. For fast compilation of the whole presentation, change \documentclass{beamer} to \documentclass[draft]{beamer}. This will show (properly-sized) placeholders where images/figures go. To edit / compile while focusing on only a select few slides, label those slides e.g. \begin{frame}[label=current]{Here's a title} and then add the line \includeonlyframes{current} to preamble. On my work (Linux) machine, I followed the readme at this address. Here are some modifications/notes.
From
http://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/11622/add-space-between-paragraphs-in-beamer My hack solution was to append the following latex code to the end of the paragraph that should have the space. \\~\\ For example, try inserting this into a Beamer latex file: \frame{ This is text that should have a blank line after it. \\~\\ Here is text following a blank line. } Preserving the Boltzmann ensemble in replica-exchange molecular dynamics by Cooke and Schmidler. See here: http://www.ryananddebi.com/2009/11/29/remove-apostrophes-before-numbers-in-openoffice-calc/
Quoted: From the “Edit” menu, choose “Find & Replace.” In the “Find” box, type “^.” (i.e., carat + period). In the “Replace” box, type “&” (without the quotes, of course). But you have to do one more thing for this to work. At the bottom of the “Find & Replace” window you’ll see a button that says “More Options.” Click on it, then select the box next to “Regular Expressions.” You should now have a “Find & Replace” box that looks like this: [omitted] Now, hit “Replace All” and all of your apostrophes will disappear. This will give a similar setup like Fugu on Mac. Just be careful when looking at a browser window whether you are looking at the local folder or the remote SSH folder! open up a file browser window. Hit ctrl-l for 'location' and for the location type sftp://[email protected]/directory1/directory1/ to connect. See Section 2 at this link. Paper attached in case link breaks.
Part 1 and Part 2. Also another view here. Another PPT from Ingmar Schuster (Universitat Leipzig) appears to be very good. (attached and viewable below)
